Matthew Lewis

Matt teaches in the areas of self-care, soul-care, adult discipleship, and leadership coaching at Ashland Theological Seminary, where he is Assistant Professor of Practical Theology. He serves as the seminary's Director for Excellence in Leadership. He specializes in helping pastors renew their spiritual vitality. Matt has coached church planters, missionaries, and business leaders for more than a decade. He has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Ashland Theological Seminary.

Matt was a co-writer of the steps that make up the spiritual practices in Volume 1.

Bob Beer

Bob develops "learn by doing" resources that equip people to learn at an accelerated pace. He has done this for over fifteen years. He began this work when creating training materials for employees of the publishing services company he co-owned. Then he started SDG Publishing in 2011 to focus specifically on developing resources for laypersons in the Christian Church. Bob has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Bob spearheaded the development of Volume 1 and assisted Matt Lewis with the writing of the steps.

Jeff Franks

Jeff creates experientially-based spiritual formation resources that position people to experience Jesus. He does that through short stories, small group curriculum, and other resources. Jeff has done this as a freelance writer and through Being Formed Resources, which he started in 2007 to provide experiential resources for churches and businesses. He currently serves as the CEO of HCM International. Jeff has a Master's degree in counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary.

Jeff wrote the stories that go with each Essential Practice.
